Sean Horan sadly passed away on the 2nd of May 2024, peacefully in Addenbrookes hospital. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family and friends. Sean was incredibly proud to be the first member of his family to go to university, studying Physics at Liverpool from 1982-1985, and retaining a lifelong interest in science. After graduation, Sean found success as an IT consultant in the financial world. We will miss the tall tales of his many air miles, and bar tabs, from these travels. The chess world also mourns his loss, Sean was the captain of the Essex u1450 and u1650 teams, and came joint first in the Minor section of Bunratty in 2019. Additionally, he was proud to have achieved Bridge master points back in the day. Sean grew up in Saffron Walden, and will be known to many for his role helping out around the town. If you would like to pay your respects, a memorial service will be held at Fairycroft House on Sunday the 21st of July. We will gather at 11am with a view to starting speeches at around noon.
