Rotary in Saffron Walden is holding a collection as part of their continued efforts to help Ukrainians displaced by the war.
The collection will be held at the Common in Saffron Walden from 9am until 1pm on Sunday, February 5.
Currently, items needed are tinned fish, rice, oats and pasta, along with toiletries and washing powder, as well as new towels, bedding and activity games for children.
The previous four Rotary collections have been delivered by Felsted-based charity UK-Aid to refugee camps and distribution centres in Moldova and Ukraine, some of which are run by those countries' own Rotary clubs.
Rotarian project leader John Tapscott said: "Rotary in Saffron Walden is an active local supporter of this aid programme and thanks to the generosity of local people and the ideal collection site of the car park at the Common it’s been possible for the local community to play their part in making a significant impact."
Rotary International has played a significant role in aiding Ukraine, including the rebuilding of a destroyed village called Moschun using modular homes.
Alan Hilliar, co-founder of UK-Aid, said: "As the war continues more is still needed and it's really comforting having Rotarians in Saffron Walden on our side to fight this massive problem."
UK-Aid is a small charity that boxes up all the items collected and arranges them to be sent in 40ft lorries to Moldova and Ukraine, where they are distributed to women and children.
Cash donations to assist in transportation costs are also accepted - and these can also be made at the Rotary collection point in cash or by credit card.
John Tapscott added: "UK-Aid is doing an amazing job for a small charity and Rotary is glad it can support Ukrainian refugees by collaborating closely with it.
"Residents of Saffron Walden and surrounding villages have supported many of Rotary’s collections in the past and we hope they will give generously to this humanitarian need that is so worthy of all our support."
The full list of items needed also includes colostomy bags, shampoo, soap, wet wipes, antibacterial gel, torches, shoes, plates, forks and spoons.
