Saffron Walden Rotary has welcomed Tim Boyden as its new president, with Andrew Burton as the president elect.

Tim has been a Rotarian for 30 years and a member of Saffron Walden Rotary for 23 years, and was a member of Round Table for 18 years.

He has held a number of positions, and is currently serving as an assistant district governor.

Members welcomed Tim and his wife Gill, along with Andrew, on July 1.

Immediate past president David Riley was also recognised for his club and charitable activities over the years by being made a Paul Harris fellow - an award named after the founder of Rotary.

Tim said: "I plan to continue the many activities for which we are known; sponsoring the Young Music Festival; organising the Christmas Community Collection and mock interviews for young people.

"We will continue our international activities by supporting PhysioNet with the collection of medical equipment and the management of its local hub and arrange collections for Ukrainians in partnership with Aid-UK.

"I will also ensure that we will continue to seek new members as we have done so successfully in the last 18 months and to include events to foster our friendships with our supporters and friends."
