Newport Amateur Theatrical Society will perform parody mystery play 'Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders' this weekend.

The play, written by Derek Webb, will be performed at Newport Village Hall at 7.30pm on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22.

Agatha Crusty (pronounced 'Croosty') is a crime novelist, played by Kate Featherstone, who is also pretty adept at solving crime.

When her sister-in-law Alice (Tracey Murray) invites her to spend a few days with her in the village of Chortleby, she gets caught up in a series of murders which seem directed at members of the All Saints Village Hall committee.

There are plenty of suspects, including Toby the Vicar (Matthew Fyleman), committee chair Eleanor (Yvonne Hannant), caretaker Harry Knott (Will Murray), and identical twins Olivia and Oliver Truscott-Pratt (Becky Monk).

With incompetent investigating officer D.I. Twigg (Steve Dunn), there are plenty of laughs as the murders begin to pile up.

The murder mystery is packed full of wit and comedy, with an ingenious plot which will challenge the audience to spot clues and figure out whodunnit.

The performance is directed by Jacqueline Pullen, and doors open 30 minutes before the performance.

Tickets are available from Newport Village Stores, on the door and online at thelittleboxoffice.com/nats. Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6.50 for concessions.
