The Rotary Club of Saffron Walden recently held several collections for Ukraine, which prompted a "marvellous" response from the community.
Collections were held at the Common in Saffron Walden, at the villages of Hempstead and Great Abingdon and at Joyce Frankland Academy in Newport.
People donated food items, shoes, clothes, hygiene items and items for children, and more than £1,000 was donated to help with transport costs for the four-day journey across Europe.

Rotarian project leader John Tapscott said: "Everything we collect is transported by the local Felsted charity UK-AID, so it is a truly local effort by many people.
"We would like to thank all the donors for their kindness and support in providing the goods and cash."
