Literary stars of tomorrow received awards for courage at Creative Walden's poetry recital.
Mayor of Saffron Walden Cllr Heather Asker handed out prizes at the recital on Sunday, July 23.
Courage awards went to young writers Lily Worboyes, 12, Vivien Neupaverova, eight, and nine-year-old Lily Frisenda Thomas.
Alice Bromell, who joined six years ago as a young writer, and who now tutors the group, was awarded a special trophy for her poetry book 'The Girl Who Decided To Go For It'.
Highlights of the evening included Izzy Logan's poem 'So Long Sparrow', and 11-year-old Ellie Gill's 'The 12 Days of Holiday', which hilariously recounted the trials and tribulations of travelling abroad.

Paul Bellany, who runs the creative writing sessions at Fairycroft House, said: "We have children who have their own struggles in life and many on various spectrums, but they all seem to score high on the happiness charts when they come to the Writer’s Room and I thank them, one and all, for sharing that happiness with Alice, Lee and myself."
Lily Worboyes and her mum Laura recently raised £2,000 for the group by climbing Scafell Pike.
Laura said: "Writer’s Room has been amazing for us. It’s a safe, relaxed and fun environment that supports the writing and wellbeing of those who attend."
A film of the event is available on Creative Walden's YouTube channel.
