Saffron Walden MP Kemi Badenoch recently boarded the 'Buffy Playbus' a pre-school play bus which has been supporting families in Uttlesford for nearly 30 years.

The converted double-decker, which is staffed by professional Early Years workers and includes toys and learning facilities, tours 15 different communities in the district.

Parents are not charged for the service, but the bus accepts donations.

Mrs Badenoch and Essex county and Uttlesford district councillor Sue Barker met project manager Rosie Juhl in Dunmow to learn more about the bus.

Rosie said: "We were very happy to welcome Kemi to Buffy Playbus, to see the unique service that our organisation offers.

"We showed her the wonderful toys, equipment and resources that we have on board the bus and explained how families can come together within their own communities to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun.

"We value the opportunity that her visit gave us to highlight our service to the community."

Mrs Badenoch described the Buffy Playbus as "a great asset" to the community for providing a mobile space where children can play, especially in more rural areas.

She added: "I’ve been pleased to support its success and growth over the years, most recently through Uttlesford District Council’s bid for the government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, which saw Buffy Bus awarded £5,000."
