Affinity Water is currently assessing an interruption to the water supply in the CB10 postcode area of Saffron Walden.

A statement on Affinity Water's website said: "We’re really sorry you haven’t got any water.

"We’ve been made aware of damages caused by a third party to one of our pipes on Highfields which may be causing this.

"Our technician is on their way to your area to investigate and get your water flowing again soon."

Until the problem is fixed, affected residents are advised to avoid using their washing machine, dishwasher or any electrical appliances which use water.

A spokesperson added: "If you still have water, we recommend you put some in your kettle or fridge for drinking in case your water needs switching off for the repair.

"We’re really sorry about this, we’re working to get your water back to normal as soon as possible."

Another update is expected on Affinity Water's website after 5.30pm.
