Members of Saffron Walden Community Shed constructed an Advent Nativity scene outside the Baptist Church in High Street.
The Community Shed, based in Audley End, offers people a place to gather, make and mend things to combat loneliness and isolation.
After the stable was constructed, a team of painters led by Ali and Mick Smith added colour to help bring the scene to life.
A spokeswoman for Saffron Walden Baptist Church said: "Entering in to the spirit of the season, the church hopes that adults and children alike will enjoy viewing the Nativity scene and will stop for a moment to reflect on the meaning of Christmas and the significance of this baby, in a mysterious way, bringing new life and hope."
