Young musicians from Saffron Walden will join a multi-cultural orchestra for a concert at Saffron Hall later this month.
The Garden, a youth music group run by singer Joanna Eden alongside Kevin Sporle, will perform with the Grand Union Orchestra at 7pm on Saturday, January 20.
Based in London, the Grand Union Orchestra features leading virtuosos from China, India, South America and Africa.
Compositions created by The Garden's young musicians will be integrated with the orchestra, and the they will play alongside the orchestra's musicians.
Technical support will be provided by the Fairycroft House tech team, who have previously helped with the sound for other Garden performances - giving the young people a taste of professional concerts.
Tickets are free, but bookings can still be made in advance at https://www.saffronhall.com/.
Joanna Eden said: “The stage and air at Saffron Hall will be full!
"Grand Union Orchestra contains instruments and players from every corner of the planet and our young people are combining their songs with the orchestra’s own unique and beautifully rhythmic and virtuosic compositions."
Joanna and Kevin started The Garden Youth Music Project in 2018 to offer young people aged 13 plus in the area somewhere to go to make music.
The group is free to attend and meets on Mondays during term-time from 7pm to 9pm.
The Garden is funded by the local councils and other charitable groups, but they are currently asking for donations to assist with recording songs written by the young songwriters.
Donations can be made at thegardensw.com.
Joanna said: "There is such rich talent here in Saffron Walden and we have young people who write songs and play instruments as varied as the mandolin, the cajón and cello as well as piano, guitar, bass and drums.

"We’re keen to expand too if there are any young people out there who love playing any instrument or writing songs and would like to join in the exciting project!
"There are no auditions or levels of ability here - the only credential is a love for music!"
