New parking tariffs have come into immediate effect at Uttlesford District Council's pay-and-display car parks.
Changes include:
- Extending the daily charging period in council car parks from 5pm to 6pm
- Introducing flat rate tariffs for parking in council car parks on Sundays and Bank Holidays (£1.50 in Saffron Walden excluding Fairycroft/Waitrose car park, and £1 in Great Dunmow and Stansted Mountfitchet)
- Introducing charges at Catons Lane car park in Saffron Walden as a long-stay car park (will not come into effect until later in the year)
- Introducing charges at London Road car park in Saffron Walden at weekends as a long-stay car park (will not come into effect until later in the year)
- Removing season tickets at Chequers Lane in Great Dunmow
- Introducing hybrid season tickets
- Including the MiPermit convenience fee (10p) when paying for parking using the mobile app
The changes follow a public consultation in January and February, which received 500 responses as well as a petition from Saffron Walden BID.
As a result of the feedback, Crafton Green will retain the season ticket tariff, 30-minute tariffs remain in Saffron Walden car parks and proposed season ticket charges have been reduced.
A revised Sunday tariff at Fairycroft Road car park is under consideration following feedback from Waitrose and will be discussed in a Cabinet meeting soon.
