Several roads will be closed in and around Saffron Walden later this month for the Freedom of Uttlesford Parade.

The parade will be held on Sunday, July 28, and allows 33 Engineer Regiment (EOD&S) - who are based at Carver Barracks in Wimbish - to exercise their right, honour, privilege and distinction of marching through the streets of Uttlesford district.

On the day, the following roads will be closed from 7am until 2pm: Market Place, Market Hill, Market Street, Butcher Row, Cross Street, Market Row and Chaters Hill.

Rolling road closures will be in place from 10am until 1pm on Ashdon Road (between Chaters Hill and Common Hill), Church Street, Museum Street and High Street (between Church Street and King Street).

Saffron Walden Town Council and its partners have thanked residents and businesses for their cooperation and support of the road closures.

The parade will start in Chaters Hill at 11am and end in the Market Square.

The EOD&S Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search) are currently deployed in Iraq, and have previously been deployed in Afghanistan.

Carver Barracks is located on a former airfield, which was first occupied by the RAF in the 1940s.
