Families are invited to go for gold in Saffron Walden BID's summer trail, which coincides with the Paris Olympics 2024.

Saffron Walden's own Olympic athlete, 'Saffy', is hiding in the windows of shops and businesses in the town centre.

Trail finders will need to find the six Saffys wearing Olympic Gold Medals, however they will need to look closely as not all Saffys will be wearing gold.

As part of the Going for Gold trail the town centre is divided into six Olympic sports zones: hockey, surfing, badminton, track, skateboarding and table tennis.

Participants can identify where the six Saffy gold medallists are hidden, complete the form and collect the prize from the Tourist Information Centre. Each participant who completes the trail will receive sweets and a medal.

Forms are available from the Tourist Information Centre, Waitrose or Saffron Walden Library.

Completed forms will also be entered into a prize draw to win vouchers to be spent in local businesses.

This year, many shops and businesses in Saffron Walden are offering special promotions and discounts for those who have completed the trail.

Details can be found at the Tourist Information Centre and in the trail leaflet.

Shara Vickers, chair of the BID, said: "Our trails are really popular with families and helps show them all the fantastic shops, restaurants and businesses which we have to offer.

"Last year over 300 families took part in our summer trail and this year we are hoping even more will join in. They are such fun, free and easy to do.

"We hope people have lots of fun this summer exploring our beautiful town centre; make sure you wear comfy shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking!"

Each week the Saffy gold medallists will run to new locations, so trail finders can take part every week.
