People living in Saffron Walden are invited to borrow e-bikes, pedal bikes or e-cargo bikes on a long-term loan.
The initiative is part of a series of bike hire offers launched by Uttlesford District Council.
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Saffron Walden can rent a bike for up to six months at a subsidised rate.
Claire, who has had an e-bike on loan for the past few months, said: "I have found my e-bike to be a practical alternative to a car.
"I do regular short trips on the e-bike every day, sometimes several times a day. I was a reluctant cyclist, but now I love it."
