Residents in Uttlesford are being asked for their views on support for people struggling to pay their council tax.

Uttlesford District Council is proposing that the Local Council Tax Support (LCTS) scheme, which assists those struggling to pay their bills, be maintained on the same basis for 2025/2026.

This includes keeping the contribution rate for LCTS claimants at 12.5 per cent of the full council tax bill, which the council says is the lowest rate in the country.

The council is also proposing to continue safeguarding vulnerable and disabled residents and carers who are on low incomes.

Low-income pensioners are automatically protected from any changes.

Full details of the proposed scheme can be found at uttlesford.gov.uk/lcts-consultation.

Residents can share their opinions through an online questionnaire on the website or by emailing consultation@uttlesford.gov.uk.

For those without internet access, paper copies of the questionnaire can be requested by calling 01799 510510.
