A group of 20 from the Probus Club of Audley End had an 'intriguing' visit to Chatham's historic dockyards.
The group, which is for retired professional and business men, enjoyed a guided tour of HMS Ocelot, a Cold War-era submarine, where members attempted to copy submariners by swinging through small access 'holes' to get from room to room.
Members also learnt that submariners were only issued with two sets of clothing for the entire three months under the sea.

Organiser Geoff White said: "The visit far exceeded our expectations.
"There was so much to see and most members agreed that another visit was essential."
They also saw the Mast Ponds, the Ropery and the historic ships, including the HMS Gannet and the HMS Cavalier.
