A Newport historian has written a book about the 19 young men from Newport Free Grammar School - now Joyce Frankland Academy - who were killed in the First World War.
Robert E. Pike's book Suffer and Serve is named after the motto of the school's founder, Joyce Frankland.
After completing his book The Victor Heroes on the war dead of Saffron Walden, Robert continued to research villages in the area and found that the Newport school lost 18 pupils and one teacher.

Robert's wife Carol said: "Although there is a beautiful oak screen memorial wall with their names and details in the hall, there had never been a written roll of honour.
"He decided to provide this, telling their stories for the first time."
The book is available to order directly from the author from Sunday, October 20 by emailing repike1916@gmail.com or carriepike11@gmail.com.
