The woods of Audley End Miniature Railway will come alive this Halloween with a community scarecrow exhibition.

The Halloween Spooktacular runs from Saturday, October 26 to Sunday, November 3.

More than 20 community groups and businesses have crafted a scarecrow for visitors to discover as they wander through the woods.

Visitors can start their day by climbing aboard the Halloween Express for a journey into the spooky woods - where they can meet a coven of witches and some familiar Halloween characters.

The witches and their friends will perform a "spine-tingling" show, with special treats handed out to children at the end.

Following the haunted train ride and show, visitors can take a walk through the woods to the Craft Lodge, where they can capture Halloween-themed photos.

They can also visit Belinda the Potion Witch in the Fulfen Forest to craft their own potion pouch, then explore the Enchanted Fairy and Elf Walk to discover what the fairies are up to this spooky season and mark them off on a sheet.

William the Magician will host an interactive stage show for families to enjoy, and children can let off steam in the Adventure Play Area.

Food and drinks will be available in the café, and visitors are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest costumes.

Train rides later in the day offer the chance to see the site illuminated with lights.

A spokesperson for Audley End Miniature Railway said: "Our Halloween Spooktacular is spooky but never too scary, making it perfect for even the littlest monsters."
