Joyce Frankland Academy in Newport is hosting a drug awareness talk for parents, guardians and youth workers.
The school's PTA has arranged a talk by accredited Addiction Professionals independent counsellor and speaker Simon Leigh, who specialises in addictive disorders.
The talk will take place in the school's main hall (opposite the sixth form block) from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, November 28.
Attendees must be over the age of 18, and can arrive from 6.30pm.
Between 20 and 25 per cent of 11 to 15-year-olds in the UK have tried illegal drugs, and this figure doubles with 16 to 24-year-olds.
Simon's interactive talk and Q&A will cover myth busting, fact sharing, direction to safe and informative websites and advice on opening up conversations with young people.
Attendees are asked to make a suggested donation of £5, which will support substance abuse counselling for students.
Light refreshments will be available at the event.
