Thirteen projects across Essex and Hertfordshire have received nearly £30,000 between them from the Stansted Airport Community Fund (SACF).

The SACF offers grants of up to £5,000 to projects within a 10-mile radius of the airport.

Organisations receiving grants this quarter include Debden Parish Council, who received £400 to restore signage, and Great Hallingbury History Society, who were given £880 for a scanner.

Reach Group Community Projects in Dunmow received £1,400 for boxing equipment to run sessions in schools, while Stebbing Village Stores received £2,340 towards a freezer.

Stansted Mountfitchet Windmill Trustees were given £5,000 for infrastructure repairs to the windmill.

Other grants went to St John Arts and Recreation Association in Harlow, 309 (Sawbridgeworth) RAFAC, St Clare Hospice, 2317 Harlow Air Cadets, Citizens Advice East Herts, Wareside Entertainers, Country Trust and Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust.

Flight Lieutenant Jaden Barber, from 309 (Sawbridgeworth) RAFAC, who received funding for flight simulators, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Stansted Airport’s Community Fund for this generous grant.

"Their support enables us to deliver high-quality training to our cadets. The two flight simulator PCs, combined with an interactive TV, bring our squadron up to date with modern advancements, allowing us to provide top-tier instruction.

"Cadets will now have access to the latest Blue and Bronze Wings training syllabus, enhanced by Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024."
