Initial plans have been unveiled for a major housing estate with more than 1,000 new homes between two north Essex towns.
Developer City and County is behind the proposals for the site, which is south of Stansted Mountfitchet and north of the village of Birchanger.
Bosses insist the proposals will address 'the housing crisis' in the district.
The proposals include up to around 1,050 new homes, with 50 per cent being affordable, including one, two and three-bedroom family homes, new walking and cycling routes, new central community parkland, new local shops, a café and nature centre and more.
The developer is pushing to get the plans included in the Uttlesford Local Plan which has plans for development over the next 20 years with more than 14,000 homes.
The firm has launched its public engagement with events and an online survey to inform the local community and hear their thoughts.
The consultation website states: "We believe new development can extend and foster communities and provide beautiful and sustainable landscapes and homes for people to live.
"The development will propose new homes, offering a wide range of high-quality family homes, and homes suited for first-time buyers, ensuring a balanced and diverse community that can cater to various demographic needs.
"The development will meet the local plans affordable housing targets and proposed ‘golden rules’ to permit development on existing Green Belt, with 50 per cent of homes to be allocated as affordable housing, addressing the housing crisis in Uttlesford district, which is currently under pressure to meet its housing targets.
