Michael Buchallet has claimed a silver medal while representing Great Britain in the ETU European Championship in Soria, Spain.
Racing in the 45-59 year age category, the WaldenTRI athlete improved on his bronze medal success of last year in Germany by finishing second in one hour six minutes 53 seconds.
He was only eighth after the first run but a solid bike leg and strong second run allowed him to overtake several athletes and beat 11-time British best all rounder cyclist Kevin Dawson, who finished third.
WaldenTRI and WaldenJNR had six athletes in action for GB in Spain.
All, except Matthew Bainbridge, raced in the sprint duathlon which consisted of a 5k run, followed by a 20k bike leg and another 2.5k run.
It was a demanding race at an altitude above 1,063m in cold and windy conditions.
The run legs, which took place in a beautiful wooded park, were a series of uphill and downhills with many hairpin turns while the bike leg consisted of several laps of an out-and-back in the surrounding hills.
In the youngest age category, 16-19, Peter Cooke, Zachary Deller and Ross Broomfield were first off on Sunday morning.
It was a real battle but Cooke managed to finish in third place in a time of 1:04:36, only three seconds behind silver.
With the second best bike time, Deller crossed the line in fifth in 1:05:03. Broomfield was 13th in 1:06:53.
Georgina Dunlop, in a competitive 40-44 year age category, finished a creditable 14th in 1:22:56 for her second team GB selection.
Bainbridge, off later in the morning, was competing in the 35-39 year age category in the standard distance (10k run, 40k bike, 5k run) for the first time.
The wind had picked up substantially, which made the race very hard, and Bainbridge finished 20th in 2:23:09.
The next rendezvous for Team GB duathletes Dunlop, Bainbridge and Buchallet is the World Championship taking place in Canada in August.
