Matt Bainbridge has joined fellow WaldenTRI members Michael Buchallet and Georgina Dunlap in booking his place at the 2017 Sprint Duathlon World Championship in Canada.
Bainbridge was the first WaldenTRI member to cross the finishing line in a time of 56 minutes 43 seconds as he finished third in the 35-39 age group at the Bedford Duathlon.
He was one of more than 30 club members racing at the event as they experienced the thrills of racing around the smooth and fast tarmac of the Bedford Autodrome motor racing track.
The senior race in the morning was the last qualification event for world championship at the end of August and Buchallet finished second in the 45-49 age group in 57:40 with Craig Dyce first in the 50-54 age group in 58:53 despite a fall on the bike.
Dunlop was third in the 40-44 age group in one hour seven minutes
The senior race was also a great opportunity for junior and youth members Jack Stanton-Stock, Thomas Grindal, Mael Bely, Luhan Bely, Charlie Stanton-Stock and Helena Dyce to race against adults and sometimes parents.
They all did brilliantly and Dyce earned a place on the podium by finishing second in the 15-19 age group in one hour four minutes.
WaldenJNR Tristar age groups were racing in the afternoon. Raphael Buchallet, Rufus Jenner, William Lockwood, Daisy Hattee, and Louise Moran competed in the Tristar age group (eight years old) in what was their first triathlon season and their first official race.
Raphael excelled to win his first race in Tristar while Edward Taylor was first Tristar One and Millie Robson third Tristar Three girl.
