Saffron Walden had a comprehensive victory over Horsford in the East Anglian Premier League to keep them in touching distance of the leaders.
The eight-wicket victory at the Anglo American Playing Fields leaves them sixth in the table but only 35 points behind the leaders
The basement club could not withstand the barrage from Walden's opening duo, Ashleigh Cox taking 4-38 and Ali Hancock 4-45.
It left them all out for 110 and in reply, a 92-run opening partnership from Hari Kukreja (32) and Tom Bonham (65) gave the hosts a well-deserved win with very little anxiety.
Skipper Josh Down said: "Overnight rain and an overcast morning meant it was an important toss to win but the bowlers delivered and exploited conditions.
"With the bat, Tom Bonham ensured the game was won with his maiden EAPL half-century.
"He took the game by the scruff of the neck and batted excellently."
Third-placed Mildenhall are Walden's hosts on Saturday.
The second team also had a strong victory away at Godmanchester.
Disappointed to be bowled out inside their allotted overs, skipper Tom Pluck was impressed that they not only defended their total of 250 but also bowled out the hosts for 153 in 36.1 overs.
Both Walter Forsey and Henry Wilson contributed 43 with the bat, along with 41 from Neil Henderson.
With the ball, young Henry Rodda had his magic ball to thank as he recorded his first five-wicket haul for the seconds, taking 5-39.
Henderson returned with 4-22.
