A Saffron Walden tennis club has been handing out more trophies as their season comes to a close.
The final of the Philippa Francis Plate was played at Castle Hill Tennis Club, a competition that is open to all members of the club regardless of gender.
Two men reached the final, Dave Hancock and Guy Ellis, in what was an excellent clash on the grass court between youth and experience.
In glorious weather, the first set was won 6-1 by Hancock and at that stage it was experience leading the way.
But even though both players served up some great tennis, it was Ellis who took charge to win 6-4 and send it to a decider.
That third and final set also featured some fine rallies but it was the serving of Ellis that turned out to be the deciding factor as he claimed the win 1-6 6-4 6-2.
