Saffron Walden Squash Club is competing once again in the Cambridgeshire League - using the Great Dunmow Leisure Centre while they wait for repairs to the courts at the Lord Butler Centre.
The ceilings of the courts at the Peaslands Road leisure centre contain RAAC, the concrete problem that has become an issue in schools.
Charles Arthur, the chairman of SWSC, said: "Though 1Life and Parkwood have told us that they have sought contracts on the remediation or repair of the ceilings, we still have no idea of the timescale for fixing them.
"Great Dunmow have been very helpful but we'd really like our home matches to be closer to home."
In their first match, the team lost 4-1 to Melbourn seconds with only number two Mark Scott making an impression on their strong rivals.
The game was still pleasing for team captain, Kirk Archibald, but he does worry for the long term future of the club if the situation surrounding their home venue is allowed to continue.
"It's good to be playing again," he said, "and Great Dunmow's facilities and courts are excellent, but they're 30 minutes' drive from Walden.
"That effectively makes every home game an away game and makes it harder to persuade players to turn out for us.
"We're down to one team rather than two as a result."
