A third county title is winging its way to Saffron Walden Golf Club.
After Ian Cambridge and Richard Southall won the Ron Freeman Foursomes, and then Southall won the Wheeler Salver, Graham Goodman took the win at the CAGU Seniors Scratch Matchplay Championship at St Neots.
The top eight players from the Seniors County Championship qualified and on the way to the final, Goodman beat defending champion Kevin Diss from Gog Magog 2up and another Gog Magog player, Neil Hughes in the semi.
That came on the 20th hole and set up a final clash with John Yuill from Links.
Graham won the opening hole with a par before Yuill reached the turn 1 up.
He then went 2 up through 12 and only a 20ft par putt on the 13th by Goodman prevented him from going 3 down.
Impressive golf in the final stretch turned the match though, beginning with a 20ft putt on the 15th.
A tee shot on the 16th got to within 10ft on the 16th and a par made the score all square.
A wedge on the 17th got him to five-foot and he holed the putt for a birdie to go 1up with one hole to play.
Both got to within eight foot after two shots on the last but Yuill missed his birdie and Goodman popped in his three-footer to win 2up.
